A step by step guide on how to use your dry brushes
Dry brushing is an age-old exfoliation and massage technique that has many skincare and wellbeing benefits including; minimising the appearance of cellulite, improving lymphatic drainage and even boosting mood. You can transform the skin on your face and body, eradicate dryness and give yourself a natural glow by using this simple eco-friendly beauty tool.

How to use a dry brush on your body
1. Start brushing the soles of your feet, using gentle but firm, long sweeping strokes and brush towards your heart.
2. Continue upwards to your calves and thighs.
3. Move to your belly, gently stroking upwards.
4. Repeat the same process with both arms, starting with the palms, always moving towards the heart.
5. Move onto the back. You may need to curve your spine slightly here, almost like you are giving yourself a hug.
6. A dry brushing ritual can last between 2 and 5 minutes. After you have completed brushing your whole body, jump into a shower or bath to wash off dead skin cells and impurities. You may want to alternate from hot water to cold water in the shower, to further increase your blood circulation.
7. After showering or bathing, make sure you apply your favourite body moisturiser or oil.
Whilst it's normal to see some redness as you increase circulation, don’t brush an area for too long to avoid broken or irritated skin and be particularly careful on sensitive, or more delicate areas of skin like your neck, décolletage and breasts or where you've got cuts, scrapes or sunburn. Use a lighter pressure and choose a brush with soft jute bristles.
How to use a dry brush on your face
1. Make sure your skin is clean and make up free.
2. Gently brush using 5-6 short, swift strokes on each facial area. Starting at the tip of your chin and moving towards your ears.
3. With an inverted u-shape stroke, start at the side of your nostrils brushing towards your ears.
4. Brush both sides of our nose using short strokes towards your forehead.
5. Continue brushing from the middle of your forehead towards the temples.
6. Move over to your temples brushing down your neck to the collarbone.
7. Move to the tip of your chin brushing down your neck.
8. Complete your treatment with long strokes from the back of your ears towards the collarbone.
9. After brushing, rinse your face and apply an organic face moisturiser.
When to dry body brush
You can use your dry brush at any time of the day but it should generally before you take a bath or shower if you're dry body brushing, or if you've got one of ELYTRUM's Natural Sisal Body Brushes you can take it in the bath or shower with you and use with some natural soap.

How often to dry body brush
Lenka from ELYTRUM recommends body brushing 2 - 3 times a week at first and checking for signs of over-brushing like prolonged redness so you can perfect your body brushing technique before increasing the frequency. For facial dry brushing, opt for 1 - 2 times per week.
