What is body brushing and why is it important?

Brushing is second nature to us. We brush our hair, we brush our teeth - some of us even brush up our brows. But what about the skin on our bodies? It may sound like a foreign concept, but by the time you finish reading our guide to body brushing you - and your limbs - will thank us for it… 

What is body brushing?  

Dry brushing (or body brushing) is a highly popular, affordable skin treatment thanks to many benefits including exfoliation and lymphatic drainage. Dry body brushing is also completely natural and can be done from the comfort of your own home.

Body brushing is more or less what it sounds like. A combination of massage and exfoliation, by moving a dry, natural bristle brush over the body. Body brushing has been around for centuries, but it’s increasingly popular now we are paying more attention to our wellbeing. The treatment can be done at home using a body brush (we do a fabulous selection of them) or if you’re looking to treat yourself it can also be done professionally in a spa by buffing dry skin to slough off the layers of dead skin.

Body brushing can boost collagen production

Regular exfoliation with a body brush helps to prevent premature ageing and promotes cellular regeneration. Although skin renews itself every 28 days, the process slows down as you approach your 30’s - as a result, fine lines appear, skin loses elasticity and it looks duller and drier.
