Suprina | MSA Skincare
Meet Suprina Hilaire from MSA Skincare which stands for Making Skin Amazing. Here's everything you need to know about her and her range handmade natural bodycare products
Why did you start MSA Skincare?
MSA Skincare originated from some pain points I had, suffering from dry skin and my daughter with eczema, there came a point where I got fed up of steroids creams and nothing working. The dry skin caused me to lack confidence in myself and carry around a tub of Vaseline, which I used on my face 4-5 times a day, with no real change. I decided that it was time to turn my passion into a reality.
I am Founder/ Formulator/CEO (I wear all the hats)
How did you get started in the beauty industry?
I had a facial done by a well-known company who I later started to work for.
What is the story behind your brand name?
MSA Skincare (Making Skin Amazing) is an acronym of my three children’s names as they are my inspiration.
What is MSA Skincare's ethos?
At MSA Skincare we want to empower women to be confident in the skin they are in. To make the skincare routine an enjoyable experience not a chore. Enabling you to shop confidently for ethical cosmetics.
We are a plastic free, cruelty free brand. All of our ethically sourced ingredients are pure, raw and unadulterated either organic, cold pressed, wild crafted or vegetable oils. MSA skincare is handmade in London from our heart to yours in small batches for freshness, using the finest, organic ingredients that are not only good for your skin but also kind to the planet. We are passionate about natural beauty, so our products are made with sustainably sourced, organic and natural ingredients designed help to protect, restore and nourish your skin naturally. Each product has been carefully formulated by choosing ingredients based on the individual benefits they offer for your skin.
We are Natural // Sustainable // Nourishing
What is your most popular product and why?
Uplift Shower Gel, for its uplifting and refreshing scent.
Which product did you launch the brand with?
I launched with three products: the shower Gels, Detox Bath Salts and a Body Butter
What’s the best product for dry skin?
Apricot and Banana Facial mask
What would be the 3 products you’d recommend to someone who is trying the brand for the first time?
Apricot and Banana Facial mask, Uplift shower Gel, Hand Spray
What tips do you have for using your products?
With the powdered facial masks, do not use a metal spoon as it reacts with the clay and effects its healing benefits. Mix with a little water at a time.
What does your own beauty routine look like?
Cleanse with a cleansing balm, (made by me) followed by a rose toner, apply a serum, (made by me) and finish off with a nourishing cream. Twice a week I treat my face to a mask (usually our Apricot and Banana Facial Mask) and a facial polish
What’s next for your natural body care range?
Expanding the facial range, introducing a facial serum, polish, and a Balm.
How are you standing out from the crowd?
Offering refills, transparency with ingredients
How do you source your ingredients?
All of our ethically sourced ingredients are pure, raw and unadulterated either organic, cold pressed, wild crafted or vegetable oils. The products are made using the finest, organic ingredients that are not only good for your skin but also kind to the planet. We are passionate about natural beauty, so our products are made with sustainably sourced, organic and natural ingredients designed help to protect, restore and nourish your skin naturally.
How are your natural skincare products made?
Handmade in small batches by me.
How are you tackling sustainability in the beauty industry?
We worked hard to find suitable packaging so that the containers could not only be reused but also to be able to offer refills as we believe we need to take care of the planet, so there is one left for our children. Our brand is plastic free in all aspects of packaging, so instead we use glass containers/ recycled packaging materials wherever possible. We made a conscious decision not to use outer packaging. Our glass bottles and jars are fully recyclable and reusable, especially for refills which we provide. Our aluminium bottles and jars are also fully recyclable and reusable. Our packaging is biodegradable from the shipping bags, packed with packaging peanuts (which dissolve in water) to the Sellotape we use which is brown paper tape. Our shipping boxes are made from recycled cardboard. Our labels are made from grass paper and are fully recyclable. We are continuously working on reducing our carbon footprint and are on the look out to further improve the recycled content of all our packaging.
