It sounds like a chemical ingredient but is in fact a type of vitamin E typically generated from a group of compounds in vegetable oils. Tocopherol naturally occurs within our own skin and is a good defence against UV rays and environmental damage. This, along with its super moisturising properties is down to the amount of antioxidants within it. It's also a natural preservative so is a great ingredient in organic skincare as it limits the need for chemical preservatives and prevents other fresh natural ingredients from going bad.
