How to get the most out of your facial at Blomma Beauty

Facials Using Natural Skincare Products in London

I hope you're excited about having a facial with me. Below are the most frequently asked questions which I hope help you to get the most out of your treatment.

What do your facials involve?

Our facials are bespoke, meaning we select skincare products best suited for your skin on that day or if we have particular goals we are working towards. All of the products I'll use are natural and from a curated selection of small independent UK brands. Most are vegan and cruelty free, full of skin loving ingredients and freshly handmade.

I offer two types of facial treatment. The holistic facials will involve manual facial massage with the hands. This is a relaxing facial, with flowy, tension releasing massage to leave you glowing and relaxed. My gua sha facials involve using a gua sha stone and massage mushrooms to work on specific areas of stagnation and tension. Less symmetrical than my holistic facials but great for fuller tension and toxin release.

Do you offer memberships for your facials?

Yes I do! If you come monthly and would like to enjoy a discount on your treatment for committing to a 6 or 12 month membership, please let me know and I can set this up for you.

Before committing to a membership, please ensure you can attend each month as I cannot roll missed appointments forward and the treatment must be completed within 1 month of your payment being deducted.

Do you do extractions?

Please note I do not offer extractions. Extractions can damage your pores and spread bacteria, making the skin worse instead of better. I believe extraction necessity is best determined and performed by a qualified dermatologist. If something is ready to release from the skin during the treatment, or shortly afterwards, it will do. I use an organic spot treatment for active breakouts and a combination of clays, zinc and massage to help spots and blackheads work their way through the skin naturally.

Can I have a facial at the same time as someone else?

It's just me that does the facials so unfortunately two people can't be treated at the same time. However, if you would like to have a joint experience, I recommend opting for two 30 minute facials, one after the other, as you can enjoy a herbal tea and read a book in our peaceful, comfortable waiting area while your loved one is enjoying their treatment before swapping over.

Can I have a facial if I've had botox, fillers or other aesthetic treatments?

Please ensure you're following the advice of your aesthetician with any aftercare as a result of an invasive facial treatment. Whilst I can work on the skin if you have had invasive treatments, I cannot accept liability for complications for treatments not conducted by myself as a result of having a facial with me.

What happens when I come for my facial?

When you arrive at Omnia Holistic Centre, please ring the doorbell. Either myself or one of the other practitioners in the building will let you in. If I am finishing a treatment, and there is no one else who can let you in, you may need to wait outside for a short while.

If it's your first time coming for a facial with me, or a while since your previous treatment, we'll complete a pre-treatment form together. This is the get the most out of your treatment.

I'll then leave the room so that you can undress and get comfortable on the massage bed. When I return we will begin the cleanse and massage part of the treatment. We'll finish with a final consultation, going over any things of note from your treatment and recommending a skincare routine from the products I used.

What should I do before my facial?

  • Ensure you arrive a few minutes early to get settled in the studio. Late arrival may result in a shorter treatment if there is an appointment immediately following yours.
  • Arrive eye make-up free so maximum time may be spent on the facial instead of removing make-up, as, waterproof mascaras and lipsticks can take extra time to remove. Your skin will be deeply cleansed and make up removed but please note that the longer this takes, there will be less time for the other beneficial steps of the facial.
  • I will need to access your neck and shoulders to massage them. If you would prefer to keep your underwear on, please ensure the straps can be easily pushed down as racer back or sports bras can be too sturdy and may require you to remove them to complete the treatment.
  • Be earring free or to wear small post only earring earrings that do not dangle.
  • If you have a beard, if it is quite full, we have a lovely organic beard oil that will soothe and nourish the skin and beard for luxurious shine and healthy beard growth while we massage the rest of the face, avoiding the beard. If instead, your beard is quite short, we recommend trimming quite close before your facial to enjoy an entire face massage. If at any point, it is uncomfortable, do let our me know and I can adjust the pressure or avoid any sensitive areas in the facial massage.

What should I do after my facial?

  • Drink lots of water and/or herbal teas and try to keep stress at bay.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, sauna or steam for at least 48 hours after your facial as sweat and other pollutants could irritate your skin.
  • Avoid other skin treatments for at least 48 hours, or as advised by your practitioner.
  • After your facial, be consistent with your skincare, cleansing, moisturising and protecting your skin daily to best support your skin.  Consistency is the key to good skincare.
  • Don't skip suncream as your skin will be more sensitive to the sun's rays.
  • Depending on the time of day of your facial and your activities afterwards, you may want to do a light cleanse and moisturise following your facial but it's not compulsory.

What if I can no longer attend my appointment?

I totally understand that things can crop up and you'll need to amend or cancel your appointment. You can do so up to 48 hours before your treatment is scheduled. Simply email (info@blommabeauty.com) or whatsapp (07385699550) and myself or Lolly can sort this for you.

After this point, it is unlikely that we will be able to fill the gap created by cancellation or reschedule and we will have already committed to paying for our studio space so if you cancel or reschedule within 48 hours we will need to retain 50% of the full list price of your treatment on our website, or 100% for third party promotions. Either, I can refund you for 50% of your treatment, or carry 50% of your payment over to your rescheduled appointment.

For any changes to the appointment on the day, I will need to retain 100% of the treatment cost, even in the event of circumstances out of your control like travel or sickness to cover the cost of staff and studio fees already incurred.

When are your facials available?

My regular facial studio days are Thursdays and I also have at least 1 Saturday available per month. If you would like to schedule a facial on my non-regular days, please ask me and I'll do my best to accommodate. As we work out of a shared studio, I'll need to reserve the space especially for you and so will charge a £20 surcharge will apply to cover the time and staff costs either side of a one-off appointment.

How often should I have a facial?

I recommend having a treatment ideally once a month, or at the very least once every 12 weeks so you have a seasonal check in for your skin.

When should I not have a facial?

There are some contraindications as to when you should have a facial which include:

  • Active cold sores, cuts and open wounds on the face, neck and shoulders.
  • Conjunctivitis, sties or any other contagious eye conditions.
  • Ringworm, fungal infections, lice or any contagious skin conditions affecting the skin or hair.
  • If you are undergoing chemo or radio therapy treatment for cancer.

For any of the above issues, or anything which arises during the consultation part of the treatment that put my own health at risk, I will be unable to complete the treatment and the full cost will still be applicable. If you are in any doubt prior to your appointment, please contact me to ask and we can confirm your appointment or advise of a reschedule.

Please note that some of my skincare contains nut oils. I will tailor the treatment as best I can to any allergies and conduct proper hygiene standards, however, please consider caution or contact me prior to your treatment if you have a severe airborne allergy.
