Our favourite products for sore, dry and cracked hands

Our favourite products for sore, dry and cracked hands

We don't know about you but our hands are in dire need of some major TLC right now. With washing them so much or applying copious amounts of alcohol based sanitiser our hands are dry, cracked and looking decades older than they actually are.

So we're lending a helping hand (pun intended) to our lovely followers and rounding up our selection of skin saviours that will give your hands the deep nourishment they need and deserve right now.

Whether you're looking for a flash of hydration from a hand cream, a dab of repairing balm for those really sore, itchy dry patches or rich buttery salves to leave on your skin for longer then read on...

Handcreams

We recommend applying a dollop of handcream after each handwash to prevent moisture loss and protect your hands. There are two products in particular that can give you a surge of moisture.

Odylique Lemon Butter Hand Smoothie

This handcream gives you quick replenishment on the go. It has a really light texture and zesty citrus fragrance leaving your hands feeling nourished, clean and protected. It's packed full of antioxidants and vitamins to soothe your skin including avocado and cocoa butters to help elasticity and suppleness so if your hands are already a little parched this organic hand cream can help to relieve the feeling of stiff, tight skin. It's made with 100% natural ingredients, 93% of which are organic and certified by The Soil Association.

Codex Beauty Skin Superfood

Feed your skin with Codex's multi-purpose rich skin superfood cream that's suitable for face, hands and body. It's a slightly thicker texture than the Odylique hand cream but still sinks in to skin very easily and helps to treat dry, flaky and irritated skin to leave it feeling silky smooth. It's made with vitamin E rich almond oil and soothing marshmallow and calendula. What's more, all of their packaging is sustainable, from their sugar cane tubes to their recycled paper and plastic, making it both an eco and conscious beauty choice.

Buttery Balms

If you want something a bit richer for your skin than a hand cream or a deeper, more intense dry skin treatment, richer hand creams or creamier balms and salves are a good option. Most tend to have a shea butter base which is a rich, fatty substance that goes from a solid to a soft cream when applied to the skin. It's really vitamin rich so helps reduce redness and dryness.

soapNskin Honey and Oat SOS Balm

The clue is in the name for this skin saviour which is free from essential oils and is suitable for even the most sensitive skin types. Shea butter is blended with mango and cocoa butters to provide deep nourishment as well as the anti bacterial and anti fungal properties of honey to keep your hands protected and revived. A pot of this with be enough to care for the whole family's hands as a little really does go a long way.

Terre Verdi Argan Shea Multitasking Cream

A lot of skin rescue products don't feel very luxurious to use but that couldn't be further from the truth for Terre Verdi's 99% organic multitasking cream which smells wonderful and has a really pure and smooth consistency to it. It's perfect for rubbing into dry patches of skin, cuticles and heels and elbows including knuckles and the backs of hands. Vitamin E rich argan oil helps to nourish the skin and sweet orange and bergamot helps to protect and balance the skin as well as creating a wonderful natural fragrance.

Oily balms

Balms that break down to an oil are a great way to both treat and protect your skin when it's chapped and dry. They can be used on dry patches or, as a whole hand treatment or even an overnight hand mask. Don't be put off by the word oily though because we've chosen balms that sink really quickly into the skin so your skin won't be left greasy.

Meadow Skincare Hydration Boost Moisturising Balm

Meadow is one of the newer brands we've partnered with but we're already obsessed with this all purpose balm. It's great for managing dry hands including knuckles and cuticles but you can also use it as your day moisturiser and even as a primer for under your make up so if you can only afford one skincare purchase this is the one for you. Made with organic botanicals including regenerative sea buckthorn, enriching hemp oil and balancing and anti ageing rosehip oil.

Silvan Skincare Gardeners Balm

With a shea butter base you'll be surprised how light this balm is but it's blended with organic jojoba oil to balance your skin. There are several balms in the brand's range but the gardener's balm is our favourite because of its natural herbal fragrance from the juniper and cedarwood extracts. It's also the best for dry skin because of the soothing marshmallow and calendula.
