Picked from the African plum tree, these pastel yellow fruits are peeled and left to dry in the sun. The stone is the extracted and crushed to reveal a kernel inside which contains a potent oil. This lesser known ingredient has some wonderful properties including a Vitamin C content which is four times higher than an orange. Vitamin C is known to increase cell turnover and boost radiance. It also contains Vitamin E to protect and hydrate the skin and Omega 9 and palmitic acid to assist with retaining the skin's elasticity. The oil is particularly resistant to oxidation so is good for protecting the skin barrier but also helps to naturally improve the shelf life of the oil once exposed to the air.
Otherwise known as: Sclerocarya birrea.
